My husband and I recently returned from our stay in Barbados at the Sandals Royal Barbados resort to celebrate our 4th anniversary. This was our third Sandals trip, so as you’d imagine we are pretty big fans of their resorts, service, amenities, pretty much everything they have to offer. We actually booked this trip two years ago during our stay at Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios, Jamaica (and booked that one two years prior on our honeymoon at Sandals Grande Antigua).
Two for the Price of One
Like I said, I’ll advocate for Sandals all day. It’s all inclusive which means once you’re there, you have absolutely no worries. The Royal Barbados resort is one of the newest additions to the Sandals family (if not THE newest) and it’s conveniently located next to the other Sandals resort on the island. In fact, they are pretty seamlessly tied together it’s almost hard to remember they are two separate resorts.
But that means you get two for the price of one! Double the pools, restaurants and activities. With 18 restaurants and numerous bars between the two resorts, there was never a moment we were hungry or thirsty throughout our 6 night stay.
Sandals Royal Barbados is one of the newer resorts only having opened about a year-ish ago and it is just absolutely stunning. Very modern and sleek, everywhere you looked from the furniture to the decor to the landscaping, it was gorgeous…Instagram worthy!! Here are some photos.
Because we book our future vacations on resort, the last two trips it has been financially possible for us to book a room that includes the butler service. At first it seemed a bit strange, but it’s so nice to have that extra level of care and comfort. In Barbados we had three butlers that took different shifts throughout the week: Annaleah, Shakeira, and Kashida. All three women were absolutely amazing!
If you’re wondering what a butler does for you exactly, wonder no more. They made all of our dinner reservations for us before we arrived so our itinerary was set, they would reserve pool chairs for us every morning, bring us snacks and drinks by the pool – sometimes lunch too if we were feeling lazy, they would escort us to dinner and get us settled in until our server arrived. Our room bar was fully stocked at all times, and they even made sure I had a bath drawn and ready (with champagne) a few days after leaving the pool for the afternoon. And then little things, like bringing Eddie’s hat to the pool the day he forgot it in the room and coming to the rooftop bar to come snap a photo of us since no one was around.
They give you a cell phone once you check in so that you and your butlers can get in touch easily. Really, it’s great. We’ve done trips both with and without a butler and it’s not a complete game changer – that is, you’ll have an absolutely wonderful vacation if you don’t have a butler, but it is nice if you want to splurge for a more premium room which usually are the ones that include a butler.
This was by far the nicest room we’ve had at any Sandals resort yet. Our end room had a private swim up pool (private means shared with about 11 other rooms but we were in the corner. Honestly though we probably only saw 4 neighbors the whole stay and the pool guy about a dozen times haha) with a bath tub on our patio, an incredible rainfall shower and very tasteful decor. All we missed this time was an ocean view. Here are some photos.
This was basically our itinerary all week:
- wake up
- work out
- get breakfast at the buffet – HELLO omelet station
- spend the day at the pool reading, napping, swimming, drinking
- shower for dinner + the occasional patio bath
- dinner, drinks & entertainment
I’m not complaining, it was really nice to get away and relax. Here are some photos of us throughout the week.
